La Clean Beauty, une Vague qui Déferle dans les Salles de bain…

Clean Beauty, a wave that is sweeping into bathrooms…

Clean beauty, this commitment to beauty products that are good for the skin, good for your health and good for the planet, is increasingly essential in our bathrooms. The oceanheritage facial care range, highly concentrated in OSMOTIC SBP , is the perfect illustration of this fundamental trend. What is it about ? How can we recognize brands that are fans of clean beauty? How do oceanheritage products fit into this approach? Our 5-point explanations to avoid “clean washing”!

What is clean beauty?
Clean beauty (“clean beauty” in French) is a relatively recent marketing concept. It arose from controversies surrounding certain ingredients present in “conventional”* cosmetics, the harmful effects of which have been described by part of the scientific and medical community. In France, everything started with the questioning of parabens, these chemical preservatives suspected of being endocrine disruptors, and therefore potentially carcinogenic. Since then, other ingredients have been blacklisted: phenoxyethanol, triclosan, aluminum salts, certain chemical sunscreens, etc. The development of organic cosmetics, applications (such as Yuka), social networks, food and health scandals, have accelerated this awareness and consumer demand for beauty products with “clean” formulas.

What is the exact definition of clean beauty?
There is no precise definition of clean beauty, nor a label. And therefore, no specifications! If we had to summarize, these are beauty products that are good for the skin, for health and for the planet. Then, each brand remains free to interpret it: there is no need to be certified organic, or to have vegan and natural formulas to claim this! But in the minds of its promoters, clean beauty requires at least respectful formulas, free of ingredients with harmful effects for humans and the planet. Increasingly, it also induces an ethical vision of beauty, based on eco-design, respect for animals (cruelty-free, vegan formulas), etc. Some brands, like oceanheritage, go very far in this approach.

How is the oceanheritage facial care range remarkable in terms of clean beauty?
Followers of clean beauty, oceanheritage facial treatments are emblematic of a new natural cosmetics “made in France”: from the ocean (the famous “blue beauty”), innovative and focused on the well-being and health of the skin. The four beauty products are Cosmos certified - Natural or Organic - by Ecocert. But the specifications in terms of supply, formulation and production are very demanding, they go well beyond the various existing organic and natural labels.

What are its main characteristics?
Oceanheritage beauty products consist of ingredients of 100% natural origin without any toxicity, preservatives included. No trace of synthetic, controversial or animal-derived ingredients in the formulas! The active ingredients come from eco-responsible harvests or organic farming, and they all come from natural extraction processes and green and blue biotechnology. Algae and halophytic plants are harvested as part of the ethical and responsible development of marine resources. For supply and manufacturing, the brand favors short circuits. The packaging is eco-designed. Everything is done to create natural, effective and healthy beauty products for the skin, while respecting humans, the environment and marine eco-systems.

How do you recognize a “clean” product?
If you are not an expert, the best thing is to have an application to decipher the labels, because there is no official label. As a reminder, European cosmetic regulations require brands to indicate on packaging the list of the main ingredients used in the composition of each beauty product. This way, you can choose with full knowledge of the facts. And escape “clean washing”!
