Cell viability over 24 hoursThis study showed that l’eau reviviscente is a proper living environment for skin cells, because after just 24 hours, 90% of fibroblasts had survived, whereas with the saline solution only 10% had survived.

Cell proliferation over 24 hoursAdditional tests determined that l’eau reviviscente encouraged natural cell renewal. In the second graph, the number of new skin cells has increased by 83% after 24 hours, whereas with saline solution only 21% of new cells had appeared

the skin’s mechanisms

The skin is our only visible organ, and represents so much more than a mere envelope for our body.
It is a true work of art, a biological gem draped all over us.
Skin is made up of 70% water, and has a lamellar structure that counts 3 superimposed and interconnected cellular layers, creating our very first protective barrier against the outside world.
These cells exchange and communicate chemically, electrically and sensorially to strengthen the skin’s protective properties.

  1. The epidermis forms the external layer, and is made up of the stratum corneum and hydrolipidic film - thus creating the first barrier against external aggressors. Melanocytes (star-shaped cells) are tasked with colouring our skin.
  2. The dermis is common to all human beings, and forms the internal layer of the skin. It is made up of water, collagen fibres, elastic tissues, nerves and vessels that cross each other, interlace and connect to sculpt our skin. The dermis organises vital nutritional exchanges, to maintain the skin’s biological balance. This cell layer concentrates all natural mechanisms relating to self-hydration and protection.
  3. The hypodermis, is the deepest and thickest layer, forming a mattress of adipose cells and thus creating an elastic resistance to daily traumas.

skin composition

Not a day goes by without the skin changing: it constantly renews itself based on a 28-day cycle. Every month, we literally change skin.
Our skin is a living organ - it orchestrates the renewal of fibroblasts (skin cells), tasked with producing their own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid required for more suppleness and elasticity.
Over time, skin tends to gradually lose its vital elements:

  • Hyaluronic acid levels decrease and deteriorate, causing dryness, loss of brightness and fine lines
  • There are fewer fibroblasts and their quality weakens, entailing perte d’élasticité, de tonicité, rides et relâchement.
  • Melanocytes increase in number and become more irregular, leading to the formation of dark spots.

Skin ageing is natural, but can be worsened by stress, sunshine, smoking, pollution, lack of sleep, etc.
